Using the Multi Photo Feeder

Setting and Placing Documents

Note:
  • We recommend that you use the document table but not the Multi Photo Feeder to scan an important document. Document jam, dust on the document table, or friction may cause damage to the document. To use the document table see Uninstalling the Multi Photo Feeder for details.
  • The document must have no dust on both sides. If necessary, remove the dust before you load the document.
  • The maximum number of document you can scan in one operation is 24.
  • Make sure photos or business cards are 0.2 to 0.34 mm thick (normal thickness). See Document Specifications for details.
  • Do not use the Multi Photo Feeder to scan ink jet printed documents: otherwise you may damage the documents.
  • To avoid damaging a document, we recommend that you do not scan the same document more than 5 times using the Multi Photo Feeder.
  • Before placing documents on the Multi Photo Feeder, make sure the document cover is disconnected and removed from the scanner, and nothing is on the document table.
  • In the Home Mode and the Full Auto Mode, make sure photos or business cards for scanning in a single operation have the same size.
  • The Multi Photo Feeder applies the size of the first scanned photo or business card to the rest.
  • If a photo has no extra copy available, we recommend that you scan it using the document table. Using the Multi Photo Feeder may damage the photo if a jam occurs.

Caution:
  • Keep your hair, clothes, and hands away from the input tray of the scanner when you are using the Multi Photo Feeder. You may hurt yourself, damage the scanner, or both.
  • To avoid damaging the scanner, do not scan any damaged photo using the Multi Photo Feeder.

Keep the output tray lifted up slightly.

While holding the output tray, load photos or business cards straight into the feeder, as far as they go, with their faces down as shown below. For portrait documents, insert their top first.

Note:
Do not place photos or business cards horizontally.

Release the output tray, and then move the guide so that it is flush with the edge of your documents.

Note:
  • Do not remove the white sticker on the back of the Multi Photo Feeder.
  • The thickness of documents must not exceed the mark on the guide.
  • If the width of documents is shorter than that of the guide, place the document against the left edge of the guide.
