Selecting a paper source

By default, the paper source is set to Auto Selection or Auto and automatically feeds paper from the paper source containing paper matching the setting in the Page Size item.

If you want to use a specific paper source, change the paper source setting in one of the following ways.

Using the printer's driver
Access the printer's driver and select the paper source that you want to use in the paper source item. For more information, see printer driver's online help.

Using OneTouch mode 1
Access OneTouch mode 1 on the printer's control panel and select the paper source that you want to use in the paper source item. For more information, see OneTouch mode 1.

Using SelecType
Access the SelecType mode on the printer's control panel and select the paper source that you want to use in the paper source item. For more information, see Printing Menu.

Manually loading paper

You can load paper manually. Manually loading paper can be helpful when you want to check the print quality after each page is printed.

Manual loading is almost the same as automatic paper feeding except that only a single page is printed each time you press the On Line button.

Note:
  • You can change the paper source, paper size, orientation, or Output tray in the Printing menu of the printer's driver or of SelecType. For more information, see the printer driver's online help or Printing Menu. To see the current SelecType settings, print a status sheet.

Selecting a paper size

By default, the printer driver is set for A4 size paper. If you load paper of a different size, change the paper size setting on the printer driver's Basic Settings menu. For more information on using the printer driver, see the driver's online help.

You can also change this setting from the printer's control panel using OneTouch mode 1 or from the SelecType Printing menu. For details, see OneTouch mode 1 or the Printing Menu.

Caution:
You cannot use the lower cassettes to print on paper or other media of an uncommon, user-defined, or custom size. The printer cannot recognize the size and may be damaged. Use the MP tray for uncommon sizes.
