Cleaning the Printer

Cleaning inside the printer
Cleaning the printer case

The printer needs only minimal cleaning. If you notice a decline in print quality, clean the inside of the printer and the feeder inside cover A as described in this section.

Follow the steps below to clean the inside of the printer and the paper feeder.

Cleaning inside the printer

Make sure the printer is turned off.

Open cover A.

Warning:
Opening the printer exposes the fuser and paper path parts, which are marked by caution labels. If the printer has been in use, the fuser may be hot; do not touch it. Let the printer cool before you clean the inside.

Wipe the area shown below with a soft, clean cloth.

With cover A opened, open the front cover.

Remove the Imaging Cartridge from the printer.

Carefully remove any dirt inside with a soft cloth.

Reinstall the Imaging Cartridge.

Close the front cover and cover A.

Note:
If a large amount of toner is spilled, call a qualified service person.

Cleaning the printer case

If the printer's outer case is dirty or dusty, turn off the printer and clean it with a soft, clean cloth dampened with a mild detergent.

Caution:
Never use alcohol or thinner to clean the printer cover; these chemicals can damage the Imaging Cartridge, its components and the case. Be careful not to get water on the printer mechanism or any electronic components.
