Paper Handling
Paper source and paper types
Your printer can print on a wide variety of paper types, including single sheets, continuous paper, multipart forms, labels, envelopes, postcards, overlapping forms, and continuous forms with labels.
Caution: |
Do not use paper that is folded (except envelope flaps), creased, curled, torn, stained, or stamped. Always use new, clean paper that meets the paper specifications. See Paper for more detailed information. |
Your printer can accommodate various paper types through four paper sources: paper guide, tractor, optional cut-sheet feeder, or optional automatic sheet alignment unit. You should select the paper source depending on the type of paper you are using. You can select the paper source by pressing the Paper Source button on the control panel. See Buttons and Lights for more information. You can also select the paper source from the printer driver.
Depending on the paper source, the printer prints on the paper and then ejects it differently as shown below.
Note: |
Be sure to load paper with the printable side up. |
Basically, there are two paper types and four paper sources. The table below shows the relationship between paper sources and paper types, as well as paper loading and ejecting orientation.
