Duplex Unit

The following table summarizes the paper types and sizes that you can use with the optional Duplex Unit.

Installing the Duplex Unit

Follow these steps to install the Duplex Unit:

Note:

If you are installing the optional 4-Bin Mailbox at the same time, install the 4-Bin Mailbox before installing the Duplex Unit.

Turn the printer off and unplug the power cord. Then remove all interface cables from the interface connectors.

Remove the air filter attached on the rear side of the printer, as shown below.

Remove the gear cover of the Duplex Unit, as shown below.
Use the wrench that comes with the unit to remove the screw.

Note:

After removing the gear cover, keep the cover and the screw in a safe place.

Install the Duplex Unit onto the printer.
Make sure that the two pins at the bottom of the unit are hooked at the lower edge of the opening at the back of the printer, as shown below.

Caution:

Hold the upper part of the Duplex Unit with one hand until it is fastened to the printer in the next step. Otherwise, the unit may fall off and be damaged.

Fasten the Duplex Unit to the printer securely with the two screws.
Use the wrench that comes with the unit.

Note:

Keep the wrench in a safe place after use.

Reconnect all interface cables and the power cord.

Plug the printer's power cord into an electrical outlet.

Turn on the printer.

To confirm that the Duplex Unit is installed correctly, use the printer's control panel menus to print a status sheet. See Printing a Status Sheet for instructions. If the Duplex Unit is not listed on the status sheet, try reinstalling it. Make sure that the connector on the Duplex Unit is securely connected to the socket on the circuit board.

Note:

If you are using Windows, and EPSON Status Monitor 3 is not installed, you have to make settings manually in the printer driver. Click the Update the Printer Option Info Manually button on the Optional Settings menu, and then click Settings. Then select the Duplex Unit check box on the Optional Settings dialog box and click OK.

Removing the Duplex Unit

To remove the Duplex Unit, perform the installation procedure in reverse.
