Cleaning the printer case
The printer needs only minimal cleaning. If you notice a decline in print quality, clean the inside of the printer and the feeder inside the top and rear covers as described in this section. Be sure to use a clean dry cloth when cleaning the MP Tray feeder roller.
Follow the steps below to clean the inside of the printer and the paper feeder.
Cleaning inside the printer
Follow these steps to clean the inside of the printer:

Make sure the printer is turned off.

Open the front cover.

Opening the printer cover exposes the fuser and paper path parts marked with caution labels. Don't touch the fuser as it may be hot if the printer has been in use. Wait until the printer cools down before you clean the inside.

Remove the imaging cartridge from the printer.
|
|
Carefully remove any dirt inside with a soft cloth.
|
|
Reinstall the imaging cartridge.
|
|
Close the front cover.
|
|
Open the rear cover
|
|
Remove the optional Duplex Unit if it is installed.
|
|
Carefully remove any dirt inside with a soft cloth.
|
|
Reinstall the Duplex Unit
|
|
Close the rear cover.

Note:

If a large amount of toner is spilled, call a qualified service representative.

Cleaning the printer case
If the printer's outer case is dirty or dusty, turn off the printer and clean it with a soft, clean cloth dampened with a mild detergent.

Caution:
|
|
Never use alcohol or thinner to clean the printer cover; these chemicals can damage the imaging cartridge, its components and the printer case. Be careful not to get water on the printer mechanism or any electronic components.
