Installing the Duplex Unit

Follow the steps below to install the optional Duplex Unit.

Turn the printer off and unplug the power cord and interface cable. Then, remove the connector cover.

Open cover E.

Open cover C slightly, and then remove it slowly by bowing the center of the cover out.

Pull cover E upward to remove it while pushing the notches on both sides of the cover. Then, close cover E.

Align the two hooks on the bottom of the Duplex Unit with the holes on the printer, then insert the Duplex Unit firmly.

Note:

Make sure that the hooks fit into the holes securely. Otherwise, the cover cannot be closed securely.

Bind the two straps on both sides of the Duplex Unit to the printer with the screws.

Insert the connector into the printer.

Attach the connector cover that comes with the duplex unit. Then, put the connector harness through the hole on the connector cover.

Close cover D, and then tighten the two screws of both sides of the unit.

To confirm that the option is installed correctly, print a Status Sheet. See Printing a Status Sheet.

Note for Windows users:

If EPSON Status Monitor 3 is not installed, you have to make settings manually in the printer driver. See Making Optional Settings.

Note for Macintosh users:

When you have attached or removed printer options, you need to delete the printer using Print Setup Utility (for Mac OS X 10.3), Print Center (for Mac OS X 10.2 or below), or Chooser (for Mac OS 9), and then re-register the printer.

Removing the Duplex Unit

Follow the steps below to remove the optional Duplex Unit.

Turn the printer off and unplug the power cord and interface cable.

Remove the two screws from both sides of the unit, and then open cover D.

Remove the connector cover.

Remove the connector from the printer.

Loosen the screws and remove the two straps on both sides of the Duplex Unit from the printer.

Pull the Duplex Unit forward and remove it.

Replace cover E.

Replace cover C.

Close cover E.

Reconnect the interface cable and power cord, then turn the printer on.
