The Control Panel
Buttons
Lights
The control panel of the printer consists of four buttons and 11 lights. The control panel layout is shown below.
Note |
Software usually overrides control panel selections. Use your software to select print functions whenever possible. |
Operate |
Turns the printer on and off. |
Reset |
Clears print data in the printer memory if pressed and held for 3 seconds. |
Cleaning |
Cleans the print head (when the Ink Out light is off) if pressed and held for 3 seconds. See Using the control panel buttons. |
Eject/Continue |
When paper is not loaded, loads and ejects paper. |
Light |
Description |
Operate |
On when the printer is on. Flashes when the printer is receiving data, printing, replacing an ink cartridge, charging ink, or cleaning the print head. |
Paper Out |
On when the printer is out of paper, paper is not loaded correctly, or the paper tray is not installed. Flashes when the paper is jammed, or the rear manual feed slot cover is open. See An error has occurred. |
Ink Out |
On when an ink cartridge is empty. Replace the ink cartridge. Flashes when an ink cartridge is nearly empty. See An error has occurred. |
Paper Size/Type |
Flashes when a paper size or paper type error occurs. See An error has occurred |

Indicates on the printer display which paper source or which cartridge has a problem. The light pattern can indicate other statuses, such as a paper jam or open cover. See An error has occurred. |
