Follow the directions in this section if you have updated your computer's operating system, if you want to update your printer software from a previous version, or if you need to uninstall the printer software.

Updating the printer software in Windows Me, XP, or 2000

When you update the printer software in Windows Me, XP, and 2000, be sure to uninstall the previous printer software before you install the new software. Installing over the existing printer software results in a failure to update.

Uninstalling the printer software

For Windows

Note:
  • To uninstall applications in Windows 2000, it is necessary to log on as a user with administrative privileges (a user who belongs to the Administrators group).
  • To uninstall applications in Windows XP, it is necessary to log on with a Computer Administrator account. You cannot uninstall applications if you log on as a Limited account user.

Turn off the printer and disconnect the cable from the printer.

For Windows Me, 98, and 2000, click the Start button, point to Settings, then select Control Panel.
For Windows XP, click the Start button, then select Control Panel.

Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon and select EPSON Printer Software from the list. Then, click Add/Remove (or Change/Remove in Windows XP and 2000).

Select the EPSON Stylus Photo R2400 icon, then click OK.

Click OK.

Note:
  • If you are using the USB port to connect the printer in Windows Me or 98, you need to uninstall an additional USB component. Select EPSON USB Printer Devices from the list in the Add/Remove Programs utility, click Add/Remove, then click OK when a message prompts you to restart the computer. If EPSON USB Printer Devices does not appear in the Add/Remove Programs list, double-click EPUSBUN.EXE on the printer software CD-ROM, then follow the on-screen instructions.
  • If you are using the IEEE 1394 port to connect the printer in Windows XP, Me, or 2000, you need to uninstall an additional IEEE component. Select EPSON 1394.3 Printer Devices from the list in the Add/Remove Programs utility, then click the Add/Remove button and click OK when a message prompts you to restart the computer. If EPSON 1394.3 Printer Devices does not appear in the Add/Remove Programs list, double-click EPPPDTUN.EXE on the printer software CD-ROM, then follow the on-screen instructions.

For Mac OS X

Quit all applications.

Insert the EPSON printer software CD-ROM into your Macintosh.

Double-click the Mac OS X folder

Double-click the Printer Driver folder.

Double-click the icon.

Note:
If the Authorization dialog box appears, enter the Password or phrase, then click OK.

When the software license agreement screen appears, read the statement and then click Accept.

Select Uninstall from the menu at the upper left, and click Uninstall.

Follow the on-screen instructions.

Note:
If the printer name remains in the Print Center or Print Setup Utility after uninstalling the printer software, delete your printer name from the Print Center or Print Setup Utility. Open the Print Center or Print Setup Utility, select the printer name from Printer List, and then click Delete.

For Mac OS 9

Quit all applications.

Insert the EPSON printer software CD-ROM into your Macintosh.

Double-click the English folder, then double-click Disk 1 folder inside the Printer Driver folder.

Double-click the Installer icon.

Click Continue. When the software license agreement screen appears, read the statement and then click Accept.

Select Uninstall from the menu at the upper left, and click Uninstall.

Follow the on-screen instructions.

Uninstalling the User's Guide

For Windows

Note:
  • To uninstall applications in Windows XP or 2000, it is necessary to log on as a user with administrator privileges: that is, a user with a Computer Administrator account in Windows XP or a user who belongs to the Administrators group in Windows 2000.
  • In Windows XP, you cannot uninstall applications if you log on as a Limited-account user.

Turn off the printer and disconnect the cable between the printer and the computer.

In Windows XP, click the Start button, then select Control Panel. In Windows Me, 98, or 2000, click the Start button, point to Settings, then select Control Panel.

Double-click the Add or Remove Programs icon, then select ESPR2400 User's Guide from the list. Click Change/Remove in Windows XP or 2000, or Add/Remove in Windows Me or 98.

Click OK.

Note:
If you are using a USB port to connect the printer in a Windows Me or 98 environment, you also need to uninstall a USB component. Select EPSON USB Printer Devices from the list in the Add or Remove Programs utility, click Change/Remove or Add/Remove, then click OK when a message prompts you to restart the computer. If EPSON USB Printer Devices does not appear in the Add or Remove Programs list, double-click EPUSBUN.EXE on the printer software CD-ROM, then follow the on-screen instructions.

For Macintosh

Drag the User's Guide folder, located in the EPSON Stylus Photo R2400 folder, from the hard disk to the Trash. Then, drag the ESPR2400 User's Guide icon from the desktop to the Trash.
