Troubleshooting
Nothing prints even though clients can complete sending data to the printer. | |
Cause | What to do |
Clients may not be registered, or the Internal Print Server may not be logged in to the NetWare server. |
Make sure clients are registered as users of the print queue and the print server. Also, make sure the Internal Print Server is logged in to the NetWare server. If you need more information about Print Server mode or Remote Printer mode, see Introduction to NetWare Settings or your NetWare manual. |
EpsonNet WinAssist will not start correctly | |
Cause | What to do |
Microsoft NetWare Directory Service is installed in your computer. |
If you are using NDS service, use Novell NetWare Client service. |
It takes long time to start EpsonNet WinAssist. | |

Novell Client service is installed. |
Double-click Network in the Control Panel, then the network adapter used. Clear the items related to IPX to unbind IPX. |
The printers do not appear in the EpsonNet WinAssist dialog box. | |

The printer is turned off. | Turn on the printer. |
The printer is not in the same segment as the computer where you installed EpsonNet WinAssist. | To search for Internal Print Server in other segments, use the Search Options of EpsonNet WinAssist. |
Dial-up connection dialog box appears when printing with TCP/IP via EpsonNet Direct Print. | |

You have selected the phone line or the modem (for Internet Explorer 4.0x) for the Internet connection. |
Printing will complete normally after you cancel this dialog, but the message appears every time you print until you change this setting. |
Clients cannot print with TCP/IP via Windows NT Server 3.51 (NTFS). | |

You have not changed the type of access. |
You need to change the type of access in the \\WINNT35\system32\spool\PRINTERS directory of the NT Server. See Change the type of access of the spool directory. |
No client except an administrator is able to print via Windows NT Server 4.0/3.51. | |

CREATOR OWNER has been deleted from the Printer Permissions list, or CREATOR OWNER is set to Print or No Access. |
Add CREATOR OWNER by clicking the Add button on the Printer Permissions dialog box, or set CREATOR OWNER to Manage Documents (a default setting). |
Printers do not appear in the Chooser. | |
Cause | What to do |
EtherTalk is not selected in the Network or AppleTalk Control Panels. |
For models without Open Transport: Make sure to select EtherTalk in the Network Control Panel. For models with Open Transport: Make sure to select Ethernet in the AppleTalk Control Panel, and make sure AppleTalk is active in the Chooser. Also, check the network equipment including the hub cable. |
