The Administrator mode allows you to make a variety of background settings that affect the overall operation of the copy station.

Press the Admin. Set button to make settings. The following screen appears.

Enter the password and press the OK button. If the password is correct, the Select Administrator Items screen appears. Make the settings and perform the operations described below. Press the << or >> button to switch screens.

Note:
  • You need to enter the administrator password to enter the Administrator Mode. See Password for instructions for setting the password.
  • If the password is wrong, you must enter the password again. You cannot enter the Administrator Mode until you enter the correct password.
  • If you already have entered the administrator password instead of the locking password when turning on the copy station, you can enter the Administrator Mode without entering the password here.
  • If you set the locking password and the administrator password at the same, you do not need to enter the password to enter the Administrator Mode.

Key Tone

When ON is selected, the copy station produces a soft beep when any buttons or keys are pressed on the touch screen, the control panel, or the numeric key pad. The default value for this setting is ON.

[Top]

Object Sensor

When ON is selected, the copy station automatically comes out of the standby mode when a person stands in front of the copy station. This shortens the amount of time it takes for the printer to warm up after coming out of power-save mode. The default value for this setting is ON.

[Top]

Auto Feed

Auto Feed enables the printer to automatically switch to a different paper cassette when paper runs out during printing. When paper runs out in the selected paper source, the printer searches for the same size paper in the other paper sources in the following order:

Cassette 1 -> Cassette 2* -> Cassette 3** -> MP tray

*upper cassette of the optional Large Capacity Paper Unit, or the optional 500-Sheet Paper Cassette Unit
**lower cassette of the optional Large Capacity Paper Unit

If the same size paper is not loaded in any paper source, a paper size error message appears on the touch screen.

The default value for the Auto Feed setting is OFF.

Password

The copy station detects two kinds of passwords, a locking password and an administrator password. The locking password is for general users to enter the copy station. The administrator password is for administrators to enter Administrator Mode. If the administrator password is entered, the user can use all functions, including the administrator mode functions. If the locking password is entered, the user can use all functions except the administrator mode functions.

The Ready to Copy screen appears as usual after entering the correct password. If the password is wrong, the copy station requires the user to enter the password again until the correct password is entered. When ON is selected, the screen to input the locking password appears when the copy station is turned on.

When OFF is selected, the screen to input the administrator password appears only when the user press the Admin. button. The default value for this setting is OFF.

Note:
  • If there is no input from the key, touch panel, or object sensor for 10 minutes, the copy station enters the sleep state automatically and the LCD back light turns OFF. If there is any input during sleep state the locking password screen is displayed.
  • If you do not remember the locking password, contact the administrator. If you need to set a new password, see Lock Password.
  • If you do not remember the administrator password, contact a dealer.
  • When the password setting is ON, the Enter Password screen appears by pressing the reset button for more than 3 seconds.
