The printer driver features the following menus and settings.
Main: |
Media Type, Ink, Mode, Print Preview |
Paper: |
Paper Size, Copies, Orientation, Printable Area |
Layout: |
Reduce/Enlarge, Multi-Page, Watermark |
The Mode settings on the Main menu are arranged to give you three levels of control over the printer driver, as explained below.
Automatic |
This mode provides the quickest and easiest way to start printing. See Using the Automatic mode for details. |
PhotoEnhance |
This mode lets you choose from a variety of image-correction settings specially designed for photos. See Using the PhotoEnhance mode for details. |
Custom |
This mode lets you apply a color matching method or make personalized settings suited to the kind of document that you want to print. Selecting Custom as the Mode setting enables both the Custom Settings list, from which you can select a color matching method, and the Advanced button, which allows access to the Advanced dialog box. See Using the Custom mode for details. |
In addition to making comprehensive Mode settings that affect overall print quality, you can also modify individual aspects of your printout using the Paper and Layout menus. See Modifying the printout style for details.
Note: |
To make the Mode setting using the printer-shaped icon on the Windows taskbar, right-click the icon and select Printer Settings from the shortcut menu that appears. |
The Media Type setting determines what other settings are available, so you should always make this setting first.
Note: |
To make the Media Type setting using the printer-shaped icon on the Windows taskbar, right-click the icon and select Printer Settings from the menu that appears. |
On the Main menu, select a Media Type setting that matches the media that is loaded in the printer. |
The PhotoEnhance mode provides a variety of image-correction settings that you can apply to your photo images before printing. PhotoEnhance does not affect your original data.
Note: |
|
|
You can select from the following settings.
Standard |
This setting provides standard image correction for most photos. Try this first. |
People |
This setting is best for photos of people. |
Nature |
This setting is best for outdoor scenery such as mountains, sky, and oceans. |
Soft Focus |
This setting makes your photos look as if they were taken with a soft-focus lens. |
Sepia |
This setting applies a sepia tone to your photos. |
Selecting PhotoEnhance also enables the Digital Camera Correction check box. Select this check box when you are printing photos taken with a digital camera to give your printed images the smooth, natural appearance of photographs taken with a film camera.
Selecting Custom as the Mode setting enables the Custom Settings list, from which you can select a color-matching method. Color-matching methods automatically adjust the colors produced by the printer to match the colors that appear on your screen. Selecting Custom as the Mode setting also enables the Advanced button. Click the Advanced button to open the Advanced dialog box, where you can create and save your own custom settings. Refer to the appropriate section below.
You can select from the following color-matching methods:
ICM |
This method automatically adjusts printout colors to match colors on your screen. ICM stands for Image Color Matching. |
sRGB |
This method is best for color matching with other sRGB devices. |
To select a color-matching method, select Custom as the Mode setting on the Main menu. This enables the Custom Settings list. Click anywhere in the Custom Settings list box to open it, then select the most appropriate color-matching method. The color-matching method that you select will automatically adjust the colors produced by the printer to match the colors that appear on your screen.
The settings in the Advanced dialog box give you complete control over your printing environment. Use these settings to experiment with new printing ideas, or to fine-tune a range of print settings to meet your individual needs. Once you are satisfied with your new settings, you can give them a name and add them to the Custom Settings list on the Main menu. Refer to the appropriate section below.
Follow the instructions in this section to make advanced settings.
