Using the printer

Refer to the appropriate section below for the minimum and recommended computer system requirements necessary to use this printer.

For Windows

To use your printer, you need to have Microsoft^® Windows^® XP, Me, 98, or 2000 installed.

USB connection:
To connect your printer via a standard, shielded USB 1.1 cable, you need a Windows XP, 98, or 2000 pre-installed PC equipped with a USB port. For Windows Me users, your PC must be a Windows Me pre-installed model or upgraded from a Windows 98 pre-installed model. To use the USB 2.0 cable, you need a Windows XP or 2000 Pre-installed PC equipped with a USB 2.0 port.

If you want to connect your printer to a IEEE 1394 port, you need a Windows XP, Me, or 2000 pre-installed PC equipped with a IEEE 1394 port and the printer must be connected via a shielded IEEE 1394 cable.

Your computer should also meet the following system requirements.

Your computer dealer can help you update your system if it does not meet these requirements.

For Macintosh

To connect this printer to Apple^® Macintosh^® computers, you must use a USB cable.

Your Macintosh must also meet the following system requirements.

Minimum System Requirements	Recommended System
Mac OS 8.6	Mac OS 9.1 or later
96 MB RAM	256 MB RAM or more

Minimum System Requirements	Recommended System
Mac OS X 10.1.3	Mac OS X 10.2 or later
128 MB RAM	256 MB RAM or more

Note:

For Mac OS X, to see how much memory is available, choose About This Mac from the Apple menu.

For Mac OS 8.6 to 9.x, the memory requirements above are for printing on Letter size paper. These requirements may vary depending on the size of the paper, the type of application you are using, and the complexity of the document that you want to print.

In addition to these system and memory requirements, you need 20 MB of free hard disk space to install your printer software. To print, you also need extra hard disk space amounting to about twice the size of the file that you want to print.

For Macintosh

System	Mac OS 8.6 to 9.x, Mac OS X 10.1.3 or later
Memory	128 MB RAM (256 MB RAM or more recommended)

Refer to the appropriate section below for the minimum system requirements necessary to use EPSON Print CD.

For Windows

System	Microsoft Windows^® Millennium Edition, 98, XP Home Edition, XP Professional, or 2000 Professional
CPU	Pentium 100 MHz or higher that meets the system requirements for the supported OS.
Memory	32 MB RAM 64 MB RAM or more is recommended
Hard disk space	Minimum 5 MB, maximum 20 MB
Display	800 x 600 pixel or higher resolution, with High Color or more colors

For Macintosh

System	Mac OS 8.6 or later, 10.1.3 or later.
CPU	Power PC or higher
Memory	32 MB RAM or more recommended
Hard disk space	30 MB
Display	800 x 600 pixel or higher resolution 32,000 or more colors
