Connecting Your Printer to the Network
This section explains how to set the printer name, TCP/IP, DNS server and proxy server required for network connection.
If your printer does not have LCD panel, make settings with the buttons on the control panel. For detail see Connecting the Printer to a Wireless Network.
Confirm or change the printer name and IP address

Turn on the printer.

Note:|
Do not turn off the power or unplug the printer while making settings on the control panel.
Setting network while accessing the memory card may interrupt access.

Enter the Setup mode.
|
 |
Select Network Settings.
|
 |
Select General Network Setup.
|
 |
Confirm the printer name.
|
The printer name is used to access or identify the printer on the network.
Note:|
The default setting is “EPSONXXXXXX” (X: Last 6 digits of the MAC address). To change the printer name, retype the text.

Set TCP/IP Address settings.
|
Normally, the broadband router or access point will automatically allocate a IP address to the printer. To use this option, select Auto.

To assign a unique IP address to the printer, select Manual, and enter the IP Address, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway.

Set the DNS server.
|
Normally, the broadband router or access point will automatically allocate a DNS server address to the printer. To use this option, select Auto.
Note:|
To specify the DNS server address, select Manual, and enter the Primary DNS Server and Secondary DNS Server addresses.

Set the proxy server address.
|
Select Do Not Use.
Note:|
To use the proxy server, select Use, and enter the Proxy Server address and Port.

Connect the printer to a wireless network
This section describes how to set up wireless security and connect to the access point.
The printer supports the following methods to make wireless settings.
Manual setup using the control panel
Automatic setup using Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS)
If the access point supports the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) standard, security settings can be made automatically.
If the access point supports the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) standard, security settings can be made automatically.
Automatic setup using SecureEasySetup (SES)
If the access point supports SecureEasySetup (SES), security settings can be made automatically.
If the access point supports SecureEasySetup (SES), security settings can be made automatically.
Windows Connect Now (WCN) using a USB memory drive
WCN (Windows Connect Now) allows you to set wireless security automatically when using a USB flash drive in Windows Vista or Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2).

When using WLAN, set security such as WEP or WPA. On an unprotected network, your data may be vulnerable to third party wiretapping, etc.
Do not turn off the power or unplug the printer while making settings on the control panel. Doing so may cause malfunction.
Do not change network settings while accessing the memory card.
When WLAN is set to Enable, the printer cannot be used on a wired LAN.

Manual wireless setup using the control panel
To confirm of change the security settings, follow the procedure below.

Verify that the access point is turned on and communication is available.
|
|
Enter the Setup mode.
|
|
Select Network Settings.
|
|
Select Wireless LAN Setup, and then select Yes.
|
|
Select Enable.
|
|
Select Manual Wireless LAN Setup, and then press OK.
|
|
If a warning message screen appears, check the message and then select Yes.
|
|
Select Infrastructure Mode.
|
Note:|
To use the printer in Ad Hoc mode, see Ad Hoc mode.

Select Search SSID.
|
Note:|
To enter the SSID manually, select Enter SSID and enter the SSID.
|
 |
Select the SSID (network name) that you would like to connect to.
|
Note:|
If no SSID appears, check whether the access point is available for communication.
If the SSID is hidden for security reasons, press the Back button to return to the previous step, and enter the SSID manually.

Select the correct security method, WEP or WPA.
|
 |
Type the WEP key or WPA password.
|
If WEP-64bit (40bit) or WEP-128bit (104bit) is selected:
Select Alphanumeric when the WEP key is 5 or 13 characters long.
Select Hexadecimal when the WEP key is 10 or 26 digits long.
Type the WEP key and press OK.
Select Alphanumeric when the WEP key is 5 or 13 characters long.
Select Hexadecimal when the WEP key is 10 or 26 digits long.
Type the WEP key and press OK.
If WPA-PSK (TKIP) or WPA-PSK (AES) is selected:
Type the WPA passphrase and press OK.
Type the WPA passphrase and press OK.
WPS Wireless auto setup
If the access point supports the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) standard, security settings can be made automatically.

Verify that the access point is turned on and communication is available.
|
|
Enter the Setup mode.
|
|
Select Network Settings.
|
|
Select Wireless LAN Setup, and then select Yes.
|
|
Select Enable.
|
|
Select WPS Wireless LAN Setup.
|
The printer supports the push button method and PIN code method. The procedure varies between methods.
Note:|
It may take time for WPS Wireless auto setup to finish correctly. Wait until the setting completion message appears.
For details on the access point WPS function or troubleshooting, see the access point’s User’s Guide.

Push Button mode setup
|
Select Push Button Mode, and then press OK.
|
|
If the warning message screen appears, check the message and then select Yes.
|
|
Press a access point WPS button (or the corresponding button) to set WPS, and then press OK.
|
Note:|
For the location of the WPS button, see the access point’s (wireless router’s) User’s Guide. Please note that in some cases this will be a software setting for the router rather than a physical button.

When the completion message screen appears, press OK.
|
PIN Code mode setup
Note:|
The PIN code registration method varies depending on the access point (wireless router). See the access point’s (wireless router’s) User’s Guide.

Select PIN Code Mode.
|
|
If a warning message screen appears, check the message and then select Yes.
|
|
Register the PIN code displayed on the access point within two minutes, and then press OK.
|
|
When the completion message screen appears, press OK.
|
SES Wireless auto setup
If the access point supports the SecureEasySetup (SES) function, security can be set automatically.
|
Verify that the access point is turned on and communication is available.
|
|
Enter the Setup mode.
|
|
Select Network Settings.
|
|
Select Wireless LAN Setup and then select Yes.
|
|
Select Enable.
|
|
Select SES Wireless LAN Setup, and then press OK.
|
|
If a warning message screen appears, check the message and then select Yes.
|
|
Press and hold the access point SES button (or the corresponding button) until the SES light flashes, and then press OK.

Note:|
There may be no SES-dedicated button depending on the access point (wireless router). For the SES button, see the access point’s (wireless router’s) User’s Guide.

If the completion message appears, press OK to finish setting.
|
Note:|
It may take time for SES Wireless auto setup to finish correctly. Wait until the setting completion message appears.

Confirming network connection
When the settings are complete, verify that the printer is connected to the network.
|
Enter the Setup mode.
|
|
Select Network Settings.
|
|
Select Confirm Network Settings
|
|
Confirm the connection status. If you want to print status sheet, press Start.
