Transporting the Printer
If you move the printer some distance, you need to prepare it for transportation in its original box or one of a similar size.
Caution:
When storing or transporting the printer, avoid tilting it, placing it vertically, or turning it upside down; otherwise ink may leak.
When storing or transporting an ink bottle after removing its seal, do not tilt the bottle and do not subject it to impacts or temperature changes. Otherwise, ink may leak even if the cap on the ink bottle is tightened securely. Be sure to keep the ink bottle upright when tightening the cap, and take measures to prevent ink from leaking when you transport the bottle.

Remove all paper from the sheet feeder and make sure the printer is off.
Open the document cover, and then open the carriage cover. Secure the part with tape, as shown below.
Note:
If the print head is not in the home position on the right, turn on the printer and wait until the print head locks in the home position. Then turn off the printer.
Close the carriage cover, and then close the document cover.
Set the transportation lock to the locked position.
Unplug the power cord from the outlet, then disconnect the USB cable from your computer.
Close the paper support and the output tray.
Repack the printer in the box, using the protective materials that came with it.
Keep the printer level as you transport it. After you move it, remove the tape securing the print head and set the transportation lock to the unlocked position. If you notice a decline in print quality, run a cleaning cycle or align the print head. For instructions, see the Printing Guide.
