Replacing the fuser unit

Always observe the following handling precautions when replacing the consumable products.

Do not touch the surface of the consumable product. Doing so may impair print quality.

Warning:

The fuser unit can be very hot if the printer has been in use. Turn the printer off and wait for 30 minutes until the temperature has subsided before replacing the fuser unit. Keep the consumable products out of the reach of children.

Follow the steps below to replace the fuser unit.

Turn off the printer, and wait with the front cover closed for 30 minutes until the temperature has subsided.

Press the latch on the front cover and open the cover.

Caution:

Do not leave the front cover open for more than five minutes to avoid exposing the imaging cartridges to light. Do not expose the imaging cartridges to sunlight at all.

Take the light shielding paper from the new fuser unit’s package and attach it to the printer.

Open the paper guide on the top front of the printer.

Unlock the lock levers on both sides of the fuser unit.

Pull the fuser unit towards you and then lift it out of the printer.

Warning:

Be careful not to touch the fuser, which is marked CAUTION HIGH TEMPERATURE, or the surrounding areas. If the printer has been in use, the fuser and the surrounding areas may be very hot. If you must touch one of these areas, wait 30 minutes to allow the heat to subside before doing so.

Take the new fuser unit out of its package and remove the protective materials.

Lower the new fuser into the printer making sure that the notch on the right side of the fuser unit into the post of the printer.

Lock the lock levers on both sides of the fuser unit.

Note:

Make sure that the lock levers are completely back to the locked position.

Close the paper guide on the top front of the printer.

Remove the light shielding paper from the printer.

Close the front cover.
