Setup Using the Buttons on the Control Panel
This section explains how to set up wireless security and connect to the access point with the buttons on the printer.
The printer supports the following methods for making wireless settings.
Automatic setup using Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS)
If the access point supports the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) standard, security settings can be made automatically.
If the access point supports the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) standard, security settings can be made automatically.
Note:|
Do not turn off or unplug the printer while making settings with the control panel buttons. Doing so may cause malfunction.
If the printer is connected via a LAN cable, the printer cannot be used on a wireless LAN.

WPS Wireless auto setup
If the access point supports the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) standard, security settings can be made automatically.

Setting procedure for Push Button Mode (PBC)

Verify that the access point is turned on and communication is available.

If a LAN cable is connected to the printer, disconnect it from the printer.

Note:|
When you disconnect the LAN cable, Network status light (b) and Network status light (a) flash alternately. Do not proceed to the next step until Network status light (a) turns on or both Network status light (b) and Network status light (a) turn off.

Press and hold the access point WPS button (or the corresponding button) to set WPS.

For the location of the WPS button, see the access point’s (wireless router’s) user’s guide. Please note that in some cases this will be a software setting for the router rather than a physical button.

Press Wi-Fi for three seconds. Network status light (b) and Network status light (a) flash alternately.

If connection to the network is successful, both Network status light (b) and Network status light (a) turn on. Network status light (b) turns off after five minutes.

If connection to the network is unsuccessful, only Network status light (b) flashes. Press Wi-Fi to clear any errors, then repeat the procedure from step 2.
PIN Code mode setup

The PIN code registration method varies depending on the access point (wireless router). See the access point’s (wireless router’s) user’s guide.

Verify that the access point is turned on and communication is available.

If a LAN cable is connected to the printer, disconnect it from the printer.

Load plain paper into a sheet feeder.
|
|
Press and hold
 for three seconds to print the status sheet, and then confirm the PIN code on the status sheet. |

While pressing Wi-Fi, press
for three seconds. Network status light (b) and Network status light (a) flash simultaneously. |

Register the displayed PIN code on the status sheet to the access point within two minutes.

If connection to the network is successful, both Network status light (b) and Network status light (a) turn on. Network status light (b) turns off after five minutes.

If connection to the network is unsuccessful, only Network status light (b) flashes. Press Wi-Fi to clear any errors, then repeat the procedure from step 3.
