Loading Envelopes

Follow these steps to load envelopes:

Open the paper support, slide out the extensions, and then open the feeder guard.

Lower the output tray and slide out the extension.

Set the paper thickness lever to the position.

Note:

Return the paper thickness lever to the position after printing envelopes. If the paper thickness lever is not returned to the position, the print speed when printing single sheets will decrease, and the print quality may decline.

Slide the left edge guide so that the distance between the two edge guides is slightly wider than the envelopes you are going to load.

Load the envelopes with the short edge first and the flap side to the left against the right edge guide, and slide them into the sheet feeder.

Note:

You can load up to 10 envelopes at a time in the sheet feeder.

Slide the left edge guide so that it is flush with the left edge of the envelopes.

Note:

Make sure that the envelopes are loaded under the tabs inside the edge guides.

Set the feeder guard back.

Note:
  • If you are going to print a large number of envelopes, first try printing a single envelope to check the quality. You can then print the rest of the envelopes.

  • The folding quality and thickness of envelopes vary widely. If the total thickness of the stack of envelopes exceeds 10 mm, press each envelope in the stack flat before loading. If print quality declines when a stack of envelopes is loaded, load one envelope at a time.

  • Do not use envelopes that are curled or folded.

  • Flatten the envelope flaps before loading.

  • Flatten the loading edge of the envelope before loading.

  • Avoid using envelopes that are too thin as they may curl during printing.
