Connecting to the Network

Selecting Your Network Environment

The printer can be shared by users across multiple platforms and environments; Windows 98/95, Windows NT, Macintosh, OS/2, UNIX, and Novell NetWare.

To use the printer on the network, you need to configure the printer for your network environment. The configuration utility you should use depends on your operating system.

NetWare users
Use EpsonNet WinAssist.

Windows 98/95/2000/NT users
Use EpsonNet WinAssist or the printer's control panel.

Macintosh users
Use EpsonNet MacAssist. Adobe PostScript 3 Kit is needed to print from a Macintosh.

OS/2 or UNIX users
Use the printer's control panel or the arp/ping command to set the IP address. Then use EpsonNet WebAssist to configure.

You must set an IP address for the Internal Print Server first, except in a NetWare environment, which uses the IPX protocol.

Note:

For Windows 98/95/2000/NT/Macintosh users, you can also use the printer's control panel to set the IP address; however, it is easier to use EpsonNet WinAssist or MacAssist to set the IP address and to make other settings.

The Internal Print Server is set to the default IP address "192.168.192.168". This private IP address may cause conflicts on your network. To prevent this, you must confirm that the same IP address does not already exist on the network before connecting the Internal Print Server to the network. If it does, turn off the device which has the same IP address, then change the default IP address of the Internal Print Server.
