Transporting Your Printer

If you need to transport your printer some distance, carefully prepare and repack it as described below. Use the original box and packing materials, or a similar box that holds the printer snugly.
Caution:
When storing or transporting the printer, avoid tilting it, placing it vertically, or turning it upside down; otherwise ink may leak.
When storing or transporting an ink bottle after removing its seal, do not tilt the bottle and do not subject it to impacts or temperature changes. Otherwise, ink may leak even if the cap on the ink bottle is tightened securely. Be sure to keep the ink bottle upright when tightening the cap, and take measures to prevent ink from leaking when you transport the bottle.
Plug in the printer and turn it on. Wait until the print head returns to the home position, then close the printer cover.
Turn off the printer and unplug its power cord.
Disconnect the interface cable.
Remove all paper from the sheet feeder.
Open the printer cover. Secure the print head with tape, as shown below, then close the printer cover.
Close the front cover and paper support.
Set the transportation lock to the locked position.
Attach the protective materials to both sides of the printer.
Repack the printer and power cord in the original box.
Note:
Keep the printer level during transport.
After you move it, remove the tape securing the print head and set the transportation lock to the unlocked position. If you notice a decline in print quality, run a cleaning cycle or align the print head.
